For A.I.R. Postcard Show Benefit -- Wish You Were Here 11, 2012
Inspired by Zen Buddhist hatsuboku, or “flung ink” paintings that capture the essence of nature through splashes of ink, I applied this concept to the monotype process. The images emerge as a collaborative process between the inked surface, the paper and my movements. I am particularly fascinated by the micro-movements of nature including growth, erosion, precipitation, evaporation and crystallization, as well as shifts that occur from a gentle breeze.
